Seaqual (Pty) Ltd is a private company registered in South Africa. We design and manufacture a range of drainage solutions and pipe anchors synonymous with quality, durability and innovation. Our pipe anchors are used to secure plumbing and electrical pipes to any type of surface. All our products are manufactured from recyclable materials in our ISO9000 compliant production facility in Knysna, which is situated in the heart of South Africa’s famous Garden Route. Seaqual’s products are installed throughout Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands and will soon be available to Middle East markets via our distributor based in Bahrain. We are also in discussions with companies in the United States that have shown an interest in our innovative designs and that may lead to certain products in our range being available there as well.
In addition, we are the exclusive distributor for Mufle channel drains (Italy) and Erkon manhole covers, tree rings and bollards (Turkey) in Southern Africa.
In 1993, a South African plumber with 37 years of experience in the industry established Seaqual in Knysna to produce solar panels. The name derives from Sea Quality, the products being designed to withstand harsh coastal weather conditions.
In 2006, he teamed up with a businessman and changed the focus to specialized plumbing solutions. This resulted in the patenting of our flagship product, the RainDrain.
Our R&D team has many years of experience in the building industry and has identified the following as problems experienced on a daily basis by plumbers and builders when installing drainage solutions on site:
Products are difficult to install
They take too long to install
Breakages, loss and theft are on the increase
Poor quality and reliability results in too many comebacks
With this in mind, Seaqual’s R&D team gives careful thought to incorporating practical ways to solve these problems to make the life of a plumber and builder easier. Examples of how this has been achieved are listed below:
Incorporation into our RainDrain of a water collection sump with a 75mm profile to match that of a brick paver, all of which fits neatly into the 100mm waste pipe. This eliminates the time consuming need to build a gulley and makes for a neat and efficient finish
Our WetFloor drain 1st fix has the widest water proofing flange to accommodate either cementitious or bituminous water proofing
A 75mm SANS compliant water trap that combats back flushing, prevents odors and can be removed for cleaning
BuddyBats have a clip-on mechanism that reduces pipe shudder and copper theft. A single anchor halves the time to install. Installation breakage is zero and Bats are color coded to identify hot and cold water pipes.
Our HyDrain is much lighter, much easier to install and a lot less expensive than the full bore
Costs associated with stock loss, theft and breakages are largely eliminated by introducing a 1st and 2nd fix option and contractors can improve and mange their cash flow by timing their purchases to align with the wet and dry-works requirement stages of a project
As a result, the product range has filled gaps in the market place and Seaqual has become known as the premier supplier of reliable and affordable drainage solutions that are aesthetically pleasing and are designed, manufactured and supported in South Africa to the highest standards of quality.
Every product in our range has been thoroughly tested, mechanically, practically and competitively and has been used by the plumbing and building industries for many years.
To design and manufacture an affordable, easy to install, high quality range of drainage solutions in our Knysna, South Africa, Factory for use in residential and commercial plumbing and building industry markets in South Africa, Africa and overseas.

We are actively seeking export opportunities that will significantly increase the value of our equity thus ensuring future growth and sustainability. We support other SMME’s in the manufacturing and selling process.
Corporate Social Responsibility:
We have a highly developed sense of social responsibility towards the community in which our business operates. Whilst our staff compliment may be relatively small, 23 in all, Seaqual’s member has been actively involved, since 1993, as Chairman of a Non-Government Organization known as the Knysna Education Trust where he was recently awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Award for his involvement and contribution to the KET over many years. The Trust focuses on early childhood development of disadvantaged children by ensuring their attendance at recognized pre-schools, where they are properly fed and cared for, and stimulated, in preparation for their introduction into the Government School system.
For further information, we invite you to visit The Knysna Education Trust’s web site at http://www.knysnaedutrust.co.za where you will gain further insight to the nature and extent of projects they have undertaken as well as their past and present successes. Our products are made from ABS, polypropylene, glass-filled nylon, natural rubber and 316 marine grade stainless steel. These materials have been chosen because of their quality, strength and durability. All of our products are 100% recyclable, right down to the packaging. According to the “Green” experts, we have a “neutral” green rating. No PVC is used in the manufacture of Seaqual products.
Along with product patents, Seaqual has designed and owns the moulds and injection-moulding machines used to manufacture the plastic components needed to create their products. We outsource production of the stainless steel components and assemble and package these components, together with those made in our own factory, to form the recognized brands in the Seaqual range.
The Seaqual range of products consists of:
Our wet floor drain is available with, a 75mm removable, SABS compliant, water trap, a choice of attractive grate finishes and in a range of five different size and type reducers/outlets. Applications include: showers, kitchens, wet rooms, laundries, balconies etc. WetFloor Drain is sold in two parts, namely 1st & 2nd Fix Packs. This gives customers the flexibility to choose their grate finish as well as size and type of outlet. This enables the customer to configure a floor drain to their choice by mixing and matching any of our 1st & 2nd Fixes.
TileGrate 2nd Fix:
In the 2nd Quarter of 2014, we launched our tileable 2nd Fix Pack called TileGrate. This product allows for endless creativity as you can now create your own stylish finish in the provided TileGrate Pan, effectively replacing the traditional stainless steel grate with a tile. Water flows into the empty grout space around the edges of the pan into the hidden drain below. This product is compatible with any of the following 1st Fix Packs: WetFloor Drain, BalconyDrain or HyDrain, depending on your application. TileGrate is provided with our standard 75mm water trap so it's perfect for use in indoor showers or without a trap around indoor or outdoor swimming pools or on balconies.
LoLo Drain was developed specifically for use in thin/narrow floor slabs such as modern high-rise apartment buildings and hotels. The range consists of a low profile 50mm side outlet and is available with 4 grate options. The water trap has been reduced to 51mm in depth to comply with international building standards. A large waterproofing flange is provided with each LoLo Drain. LoLo Drains are sold as complete units instead of our usual 1st & 2nd Fix concept.
WetFloor Grate & Waste:
This is our Floor drain without the water trap. Available in 40mm & 50mm Spigot for use in areas where waterproofing is not required.
A large glass-filled nylon flange with a domed leaf guard (grate) for use on flat roofs to lead water into 110mm storm water drainage pipes. HyDrain is being used increasingly by plumbers instead of cast iron full-bores that are cumbersome to use, more difficult to install and more expensive. Outlet reducers for 75mm & 50mm pipe sizes are available. HyDrain is available either as a two-fix system comprising 1st & 2nd Fix Packs or as a complete unit.
A range of sizes with different outlets and finishes is available. For outdoor use where a water trap is not required because pipelines connect to the storm water system and not the sewer system. This product is provided with a large waterproofing flange. In order to withstand harsh coastal conditions, grates are supplied in 316 marine-grade stainless steel. Grates are available in two sizes, 110x110mm and 200x200mm. BalconyDrain is sold in a 1st & 2nd Fix pack although we recently introduced a few complete options.
This is our flagship product and is used under gutter down-pipes as well as in gardens and paved areas to lead water into a storm water system. We produce this product in either polypropylene, for pedestrian traffic areas, or glass filled nylon, for vehicular traffic areas. Both RainDrain “Lite” & “Nylon” are available in 5 different colours.
BuddyBats & BuddyClips:
An innovative system for anchoring plumbing pipes and electrical conduit to any surface. These products are steadily increasing in popularity as they are quick to install, reducing the labor/cost component to fit, and have a zero breakage rating. They serve as a deterrent to the theft of copper pipe as, once installed, they are difficult to remove. BuddyBats eliminate pipe shudder in copper pipes as the fit snugly around the pipe and the pipe sits proud of the surface once fitted.
DrainMate consists of a 40mm Grate & Waste, as above, combined with a plastic 40mm adjustable P-trap. It is an entry-level product, ideally suited to low cost housing projects where strict budgets need to be adhered to. DrainMate is a popular for DIY enthusiasts as it is simple to assemble and easy to install.
HiddenHatch provides concealed access to plumbing or electrical pipework behind a wooden or tiled finish. It is designed to be removed and reinstated quickly and easily, making it possible to carry out repair work on pipes, pumps and motors with minimal mess and no damage. This is a long-term cost saving product. No fuss product.
The Ceiling Saver is also a long-term, cost saving product. It is installed over each of the two vacuum breakers of a geyser. Vacuum breakers can fail, and often are not installed directly over the drip tray of a geyser. Upon failing they can cause flood damage within a home, particularly to the ceiling. The Ceiling Saver prevents this by directing the flow of water to the outside of the home through an overflow pipe. Save yourself hundreds, if not thousands of rand, by installing this unique, inexpensive device over your vacuum breakers today.
The Seaqual WetFloor Drain water trap components comply with the depth and quality of the SABS specifications. We have received the certification of WaterMark, the Australian counterpart to SABS for quality and compliancy.
We have implemented a quality management system and recently been awarded our ISO 9001:2008 certificate.
We are a Level 4 BEE contributor. Please contact us should you require any of our certifications.
